Twenty years ago, Yul Brynner, dying from lung cancer, made a television commercial that said, "Now that I'm gone, I tell you: Don't smoke, whatever you do, just don't smoke." Brynner was very much alive in January, 1985, when he made this statement on ABC's Good Morning America. But after he died in October of that year, he got his wish. The resulting public service announcement remains one of the most memorable antismoking statements ever made. Watch the Yul Brynner PSA Windows Media Version Requires Windows Media Player

Did you know? Head and neck cancers — most of which are preventable — account for approximately 3 percent of all cancers in the United States? Approximately 55,000 people in the United States will develop head and neck cancers in 2008, and nearly 13,000 people will die from it? Early detection and treatment are the keys to preventing these cancers? Eighty-five percent of head and neck cancers are linked to tobacco use. People who use both tobacco and alcohol are at greater risk for developing these cancers than people who use either tobacco or alcohol alone. (Source: National Cancer Institute)
Free head and neck cancer screenings are available locally across the U.S. annually, during April's national Oral, Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Week (OHANCAW).
